Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

Q: When will I receive my video order?

A: We get this question frequently, and the most accurate answer is, "well, it depends". The time of year, the number of orders, and the total number of video DVDs to be produced for a show influence the answer.

Common sense: We can bang out 20 copies of a 1-DVD regional specialty in a day; 250 copies of a 12-DVD big National takes a week to process, package and ship. AND, if it is our "busy season" where we are all out filming Nationals, then DVD production times are longer. We aren't even in the studio!

Our typical video production times:

Off Season: 7 - 10 days
Average: 2 - 3 weeks
Peak Season: 6 - 8 weeks

Peak show season is April/May/June and September/October/November

Q: Will every dog in every class be on the video? Do you include all events?

A: YES, we do! Our edited DVDs cover every single dog in every single class in every single conformation event. We will video select performance events if contracted to do so by your club. We put as much of the judging as we can on the video, within time limitations.

Q: Other videos that we have seen are hard to follow; either the dogs are just not labeled or someone reads information from the catalog onto the tape, which is hard to follow. Do you label the dogs or events?

A: YES, we do! Since our recordings are all digital, and all of our video editing is done on the computer, what we do is to imbed a marker right into the digital video with each dog's AKC registered name, sire and dam, and that is displayed directly on the screen along with the class being judged.  Our titling includes the class placements (1,2,3,4) and major awards (WD, RWD, WB, RWB, BOB, BOW, BOS, AOM, Selects).

Also, we use a digital menu system on the DVD that allows the viewer to select which event they wish to view at any time. For example, one might view the Top 20, then flip to Juniors, and go back to Best of Breed. (Please familiarize yourself with your own DVD player.  Each remote control is a little different.  You will need to navigate through the DVD menu to see all of the different video tracks.)

Q: Can I order video of just my dog, or just the class? Can I get every single judge's cut?

A:  Sure.  However, any custom work that we do is out of sequence with the larger production run for your National Specialty show.  We must do custom editing, rendering, compiling, DVD authoring and single disk duplication.  We are happy to do the work, but it does come at a price that may be more expensive than our normal production run video DVDs.  Feel free to e-mail us with a description of your custom project, and we will send you a price quote.

Q: Will you do custom video of my dog for my website?

A: Sure.  In fact, we are experts at internet streaming video (just look at our site!).  For custom work, please e-mail to us with a description of what you need and we will gladly send you a price quote.

Q: What is different about ShowDogVideoPros compared to other dog show videographers?

A: our video services for your show were offered at no cost (no fee, no expenses, no retainers, no minimum purchase) to your parent club.

All of the other dog show video companies charge from hundreds to thousands of dollars in comp'ed hotel rooms, travel expenses and professional fees to your parent club for their video services. We don't do that because ultimately it drives up your annual dues, or your National Specialty entry fees.

Instead, we are in business to sell videos, and do NOT pass through any hidden expenses to you or your club. To make a profit, though, we must sell videos, and we must cover our expenses.

To do that we focus on a superb quality video product for YOU, our customers. We keep our overhead low, and work very hard to deliver a high quality, timely video experience, which we think we do! Enjoy!

Q: How do you arrive at your DVD prices?

A:  We charge 42 cents per dog for custom edited video, and that's it!  A single video DVD holds ~100 dogs and lists for $42.00 (we do offer 10% - 30% show discounts and free shipping on PRE show orders).  Common sense:  A show with an entry of 100 dogs fits on one DVD; an entry of 1,000 requires 8 - 10 DVD discs and costs more!  Compare our prices to other Specialty Show items:

  • 1 show win photo $25 - $35
  • 1 show entry fee $25 - $40
  • 1 handling fee $75 - $100
  • 1 of our video DVDs $30 - $40

It's also true that a Rollys Royce costs more than a VW.  Just like the Rolls, our videos are highly specialized, custom crafted, simply GORGEOUS productions, serving you - a very small yet ELITE Breed-specific clientele.

And, our videos will last forever!

PRICE: ~$30 - $40 per DVD.
QUALITY: Superb!
